Cookie Policy
Jazzcat Ltd ("we", "us", "our")
Last updated: 22 May 2026
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Jazzcat Ltd ("Jazzcat", "we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Jazzcat website at jazzcat.com and the Jazzcat mobile application (collectively, the "Platform"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
By continuing to use the Platform, you consent to the use of strictly necessary cookies as described below. We will only use marketing or optional cookies if you actively opt in.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website or application. They help the site recognise your device and store certain information about your session or preferences. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags.
3. Cookies and similar technologies we use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. They cannot be switched off. They include:
| Cookie or technology | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare security cookies | Used for bot mitigation (including Cloudflare Turnstile), load balancing, and distinguishing legitimate traffic from automated abuse. These cookies do not track you for advertising purposes. |
| Session tokens | Issued by our backend infrastructure (Appwrite) to keep you signed in and to maintain your session state as you navigate the Platform. |
| Stripe payment cookies | Set during the checkout process to enable secure payment processing and fraud prevention. |
| Analytics consent cookie (`jazzcat_analytics_consent`) | A first-party functional cookie that remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, so we don't ask again. It stores no analytics or tracking data. |
Strictly necessary cookies are placed without requiring your consent, as the Platform cannot operate without them.
3.2 Analytics cookies (optional — consent required)
By default our analytics run **without cookies** (see Section 4), so nothing is stored on your device unless you choose otherwise. If you select **Accept** on our cookie consent banner, we additionally place first-party analytics storage:
| Cookie or technology | Purpose |
|---|---|
| PostHog analytics cookies / local storage | Recognise your browser across visits so we can measure funnels, retention, and feature usage, and — where enabled — capture masked session insights to debug and improve the interface. Placed only after you opt in. |
We set these cookies only if you actively opt in. You can decline, or withdraw a previous acceptance, at any time (see Section 5); declining keeps the cookieless baseline described in Section 4. We do not use marketing or advertising cookies.
4. Analytics
We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) for product analytics, in two tiers:
- **Cookieless by default.** Before you make a cookie choice — and if you decline analytics cookies — PostHog runs in a cookieless mode that places no cookies and writes nothing to your device's storage. This baseline measurement (for example, aggregate page views) is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the Platform.
- **With your consent.** If you accept analytics cookies via our consent banner, PostHog additionally uses first-party cookies / local storage to recognise your browser across visits and, where enabled, to capture masked session recordings. Sensitive fields (passwords, payment inputs, and personal details) are masked and never captured. This tier is processed on the basis of your consent.
You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 5). All PostHog data is stored in the EU.
5. Managing cookies
You can withdraw or change your analytics cookie choice at any time by clearing the `jazzcat_analytics_consent` cookie (or your site data) in your browser — our consent banner is then presented again on your next visit so you can make a fresh choice. Declining, or withdrawing a previous acceptance, stops all analytics cookies and returns us to the cookieless baseline described in Section 4.
You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View which cookies are stored on your device.
- Block all cookies or only third-party cookies.
- Delete cookies when you close your browser.
Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Platform from functioning correctly. If you block session or security cookies, you may be unable to sign in or complete purchases.
For more information on managing cookies in your browser, visit your browser's help documentation or allaboutcookies.org.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If we make material changes — for example, introducing a new category of cookies — we will notify you by email or in-app notification. The effective date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated.
